Wearing a pair of blue jeans and a cutesy light-blue T-shirt, Yvonne strides into the room carrying 2 huge plastic bags. After she flings the heavy-looking sacks onto the sofa, she turns to greet me before plopping herself onto the couch as well.

She has lugged half of her collection of over 40 bags, explaining, "I brought all these so that you can pick and choose."

She pulls out a few handbags and then claims that she doesn't like them in general. "Actually; I prefer slingbags, but sometimes the handbags are so beautiful that I cannot resist them," laughs the 24-year-old.

The black furry bag is a gift from a friend. The brown one with black patches was bought overseas while the little blue denim handbag is from Japan. The black beaded bag is handy for a semi-formal occasion.

The pretty actress who is a regular on TV every Sunday at 9.30 pm in the popular sitcom, Don't Worry, Be Happy, confesses to a tendency of buying bags when she is overseas. "On average, I buy about 5 when I go overseas. Usually, those bags cannot be found locally. I sometimes give some of the ones I bought to friends."

Yvonne models the bags herself. Among them are a colourful striped reversible bag, a red-trimmed burlap bag and a translucent hand carrier.

Given her love of bags, does she have a favourite brand? "No, I have none. But I have many denim bags which go well with jeans and a tee." Such is her impulsiveness that "when I see things I like, I just buy".

More bags in her collection

"Sometimes, I will even go abroad to shop in neighbouring countries like Hong Kong, Bangkok and Japan," she adds, laughing. "Free time during filming abroad is also spent shopping. The other time I went to Korea to film Don't Worry, Be Happy, I bought 20 brightly-coloured T-shirts."

With a gleam in her eye, she tells us about her shopping experiences in China. "You can find all sorts of weird things in China. And they have these small shops where you can actually find lots of goodies if you take the time and effort to look carefully. Many things are actually made in China and they are such cheap buys."
