This look is purely for the nights so don't whip out that black eye shadow and eyeliner in the mornings or afternoons and expect to get away with these colours when the sun is up.

I find that many women do not concentrate enough on makeup for the eyes for the nights. It is important to note that there is less light when the sun goes down, therefore make up for the eyes, cheeks and lips have to go a shade or shades darker. If you want to create a vampy look, you have got learn not to be hesitant with your black eyeliner and eye shadow.

This look is meant to dramatize the face. It's not subtle so don't go wearing that floral dress with cat's eye makeup. Consequently the still trendy animal printed clothes would be perfect for this look.

Unlike the smoky dark eyes effect, cat's eyes require a less blending, some artistic skills and a steady hand. While the smoky eyes matches with nude almost bare lipstick, the cat's eyes go with bright red retro lips.

Step 1
What you don't want when using dark colours on eyes is eye bags. Eye bags, with dark coloured eyes make you look like you've just been punched. So be meticulous and apply some concealer under the eyes before any type of dark coloured eye make up. Use your finger and lightly blend the concealer. Apply some loose powder over the concealer it if you wish.

Step 2

Using your finger, gently lift your upper eyelids and apply black eyeliner to the inner rims of the eye. Make sure the liner touches the roots of your eyelashes.

Step 3
Repeat Step 2 and line your lower lids. Make sure that the black eyeliner joins and outlines the whole eye, not leaving any rims unlined.

Step 4
To make applying the eye shadow easier and to make the look even more intense, line the outer lids as well. This will also help to blend in with the black eye shadow.

Step 5
Using an eye shadow sponged applicator, slowly apply black eye shadow around the entire eye. As black is a difficult colour to remove if you've made a mistake, apply a little at a time, gradually building up to a jet black.

Step 6
Using the sharpest tip of your applicator (if yours is a blunt one, try using a cotton bud. Cotton buds give you just a little bit more control), make a little wing that tilts upwards at the outer corner of your eye, and a wing that tilts downwards at the inner corners.

Step 7
Using another sponged applicator, apply a dab of gold shimmer eye shadow to the inner corners of the eyes. Apply it just on top of the downward tilted wing and blend inwards properly.

Step 8
Apply gold shimmer also to your brow bone to highlight the eyes and give it a little bit of depth. Curl your eyelashes and apply a thick coat of mascara if you wish.

Now sharpen those claws and let the world hear you roar!
