Whazzat?
Touting
itself as a Group Information Manager, earth9 allows users
to manage information and schedules not only on a personal
basis, but also share this information across various work
or leisure groups. In addition to the usual calendar, task
and address book features, earth9 offers the user a Filestore
of up to 10MB in which to dump MP3 files, video clips and
other files, Bookmarks to store addresses of favourite websites,
and private Message Boards and Chatrooms. Its e-mail feature
comes with a difference - instead of a new account, it allows
you to divert mails from all your existing accounts to one
mailbox.

Habitats
feature allows users to form virtual communities, reflecting
those in actual life. What's really nifty is that the
creator gets to choose who can or cannot access the groups
created. This lets you create chat rooms or message boards
privy to you and your selected friends.Real Group Support
allows users to share and organise information according
to the Habitats they have created. Which means you can
choose either to view the calendar of events for a certain
group you have created, e.g. Friends, or merge all calendars
onto one screen. Similarly, you can share and organise
bookmarks, address books, filestores and more. Way cool!

Voice
and WAP accessibility lets you can access the site's functions
through not just WAP-enabled phones, but any phone.

Customisable
Homepage lets you choose what to read, and the Skins options
allows you to select the look. Our favourite was the pink
Blush Blush - matches our pussy slippers.

Full
Synchronisation, to be launched end-Sept, will allow users
to synchronise information in earth9 with that in popular
PIMs like Microsoft Outlook and Palm Pilots. Very useful,
we say.

Gripes
Do we dare say this? We've no
complaints! The interface's hip, we so love the daily horoscopes
and weather forecasts, and having our very own chatroom and
message board really tickles us. The only snag is familiarising
oneself with all the features and even so, there's a neat
demo to help.

Verdict
****
We
confess, almost nothing will make us give up our saucy Palm-shaped
secretaries. But earth9's thoughtful features near blew our
socks off, and all for free. It helps too that we'll look hip
surfing earth9 on our WAP phones. Go grab this efficient good-looker!
