Women's
Websites - what's hot, what's not

This site deserves every woman's
vote. Chock-full of thoughtful and diverse topics ranging from health
to pets, it also boasts nifty tools to measure and calculate almost
anything under the sun, from your ideal fragrance and ovulation
date to your financial health and compatibility with your partner.
A must visit!

No, it's not because we're too lavish with our praise, but because
'tis another site that honestly deserves the thumbs up! Besides the
usual topics like career, family and relationships, this site doesn't
underestimate the intelligence of women like certain other sites and
features polls and discussions on the current hot political issue
in the US. Look out, too, for the very interesting contributions from
users on their travel and pet experiences.

This site makes no pretences. It is a pure travel site for women and
keeps it so. Rich on travel nuggets and little else, we found this
a pretty entertaining site that indulges the Net-trotters and hopeless
daydreamers. Soak in fellow globetrotters' experiences - the site
relies heavily on travellers' contributions - and add your 2-cents'
worth. What we gripe about is the haphazardly-placed contents' and
rather plain interface.

What do we mean? This site scored on the sheer number of links it
contained and failed miserably where independent content was concerned.
We'll be nice though. If it's links you want, go for it girl! Carefully
categorised into umbrella topics with numerous sub-categories, it's
more likely than not you'll find the link you want.

No, don't. Don't bother to hit on this one. Besides a single page
dedicated to listing links with women-related websites, this site
offered nothing else that we should bother our pretty heads over.
'Nuff said.

Absolutely and gorgeously organised! Being a total sucker for easy-to-navigate
sites, this one completely satisfied the administrator in us. A whole
range of information is painstakingly delegated to 8 'channels' like
leisure & free time, look great feel great, etc., under which subcategories
pertaining to that topic is featured. Click on the category of your
choice and voila!, a neat page displays the titles you can read. We
also thought the 'Next' and 'Back' buttons at the bottom of every
article very thoughtful.

Don't let the name mislead you. This site offers much more than handbags.
In fact, there are no signs of handbags everywhere, except perhaps
under the site's shopping links. Talking about shopping, we so loved
the fact that we could actually shop and buy here! We will not even
care to mention the contents, not that they are not wide-ranging,
but 'cos we're so caught up with their free e-mail, classifieds, free
postcards, and countless other free services.

Another site that organises content under channels. This time though,
each channel is colour-coded (clever) and uses a female character
from Ally McBeal as its 'mascot' (mind-boggling). We thought the entertainment
channel really cool with the latest news and gossip. Pity the site's
all-American. The one thing that stumped us was how the sub-categories
are named. We mean, 'miaow' and 'woof' do not tell us much about the
contents, do they?

Oh dear. No fluff here. In fact, we couldn't quite figure out what
the site was about with its conspicuous absence of all things related
to girly matters (read: fashion, home, our men). But a quick check
of their mission helped clue us in: it's basically a forum for women
in the media and technology industries to network and exchange ideas.
If that interests you, hit.

We would have torn our hair with frustration had we not found the
helpful site map, which helped make browsing around that little easier.
Not exactly the most organised site around, but if patience is your
virtue, rummage around for some gems on this site. Or use the search
function to dig up the topic of your choice. First-hand accounts of
globetrotting gals and a cool comic strip on Cybergrrl jazz up the
site.

Mainly a directory of carefully-classified links, this site scores
brownie points for its user-friendliness. A special feature is the
really useful reminder tool that reminds subscribers of anything from
birthdays to appointments to anniversaries. You can also get free
e-mail here.

We don't want to be mean, but we didn't stay 2 minutes in this one.
Looking more like the yellow pages directory than a website, the only
women's section - IT Women - was a mishmash of links and plain text
features. Unless you're like so into the IT industry that you don't
want to miss any news, you might seriously consider skipping this
site.

A teenybopper world inhabited by bouncing gals in frilly knickers.
This site boasts the strong support of its angsty female fans who
contribute anything from home pages to cantankerous message board
postings to bad poetry. A bonus is the site's offer of free music
downloads. Get in touch with the girl in you or skip this altogether.
http://she.com

A site dedicated to the Asian women, or at least to Mandarin-speaking
Asian women. Don't venture in if you don't know the language, the
entire site's in Chinese. Otherwise, this is a really cool site with
an interesting 'faces in places' category featuring top HK women in
jet-setting careers. Being based in Hong Kong also means that the
creators have easy access to the top female stars of the Oriental
silver screen - in-depth interviews with these veteran performers
are generously sprinkled across all channels. Very avant-garde!
