Body:
Beat Stress, Stay Slim
The Anti-Stress Dietary Don'ts
Have No Junk Food
Identify
non-nutritious, unnecessary foods you binge on.
Avoid
buying and get rid of wrong foods available at home or in the office.
It is easier to abstain from bingeing when there is nothing to binge
on.
Watch
The Stress-Aggravators
A
cup of steaming hot coffee or a glass of wine for relaxation is
fine. But, going beyond 3 cups of coffee or 2 servings of alcohol
daily can cause a rush of anxiety.
This
is because caffeine and alcohol are strong stimulants, which can
place your body under further chemical stress. The same holds good
for nicotine, too, so think twice about smoking when stressed.
The
right diet can help you not only manage stress, but also to stay
healthy through the stressful periods in your life.
So,
do sit up and watch what you eat, how much you eat, when you eat
and how you eat, so that you can beat stress effectively.
| Keep
A Food Diary
Write
down what you ate and what triggered the stress binge. This
will help you come to terms with the stressful situation,
determine which stressful situation triggers binge eating
and identify wrong foods available in your immediate environment.
Once
you identify the stressful situation, distract yourself the
next time it arises. Talking to a friend, getting involved
with some work or exercising, is the best way to divert your
attention away from food. In fact, consider exercising regularly.
Besides helping you burn calories, exercise releases endorphins,
which also help you relax.
