Requirements:
Operating system
Microsoft Windows 98 and above
- How To
Play
You are Phua Chu Kang in the game. It is played
in an episodic format. Every episode, in turn, is broken down
into a series of events. Each event comprises two parts - an action
game, Catch My Hearts, and the sitcom game. In the action game,
you have to collect resources for use in the sitcom game.
-
Catch My Hearts
You have to help Chu Kang (or other members of the family) catch
falling hearts using pots or other receptacles within a certain
time limit. The hearts are the resources/currencies for playing
the sitcom game.
Chu Kang can collect five different types of hearts, each representing
a particular emotion. These are Sad (green), Mad (red), Happy
(yellow), Panic (purple) and Cool (cyan). To catch the hearts,
you have to help Chu Kang arrange like-colored pots below the
hearts. Move Chu Kang by using the left and right arrow keys on
the keyboard. When Chu Kang is standing between two pots, they
light up and you can then press the spacebar to make him exchange
the pots. When the time runs out, the mini game will end. You
can then choose to replay or continue with the sitcom game.
- Sitcom
After the action game, you proceed with the sitcom game. Here,
you have to guide Chu Kang through a series of sticky situations,
where he must persuade, cajole, or even threaten his family, workers,
friends and enemies to complete his objectives in the shortest
time possible.
The game is played as a series of dialog between
Chu Kang and the rest of the cast. You help by "telling" him whom
he should talk to and how. After each dialog sequence, the player
will be granted control of Chu Kang. You can then make Chu Kang
walk by using the left and right arrow keys. When Chu Kang is
near someone, you can press the spacebar to bring up the talk
panel. On the left of the talk panel, the player can choose which
heart to use, on the right the player can choose who to speak
to. Depending on the heart chosen, Chu Kang will talk to the other
person in a different tone. Depending on the other person's mood,
different things can happen.
(Tip: Never talk Madly to Rosie when she's feeling
fat!)
