I love Singapore

Do you love Singapore? Do you like it here? Do you have special feelings towards the country? We pose the questions to the cool beauty.

"Yes, yes, yes…" a string of positive answers with enthusiasm, tell us the obvious.

"I was born in Singapore, well it has been 26 years… (On realizing that she has just revealed her age, Jacelyn sticks out her tongue.) I'm happy to be living in Singapore, the environment is beautiful, the government is capable and the people live in peace and bliss."

"Although ours is a small country but we are vibrant. We have a high living standard and everyone is comfortable. It's simple bliss to be living in Singapore," the slender actress says enthusiastically. Guess Zoe has a contender for being Singapore's ambassador.

Given her zest about her country, it comes as a surprise that in her younger days, the star had always wanted to migrate. "It's funny. After being to so many countries on work, I now think I would be a citizen on this land till my old age."

In her eyes, Singaporeans are honest people. She attributes this to the education system. "I guess all the moral education we received inculcated goodwill in us as kids."

My Singapore

"We are all witnesses to changes in Singapore. Last time, we used to be the object of envy of other kids for having a black-and-white TV set. Now, everyone has coloured TV sets. We didn't have so many phones back then, now almost everyone has a mobile…"

To 24-year-old Deyuan, Singapore is a small country that has everything. "With a strong government and a industrious population, we still have lots of potential. Now we are the 4 dragons of Asia, I hope there will come a day when we are one of the powers of the world."

My Singapore dream

The jovial Deyuan turns serious as he recounts, "I used to hope for 5 Cs but now I hope for the country's prosperity and the well being of the people. I hope that everybody has a job and that the unemployment rate would not be too high. We should all upgrade ourselves to increase our stakes of survival."

Jacelyn, too has great dreams for the country. "I hope for all Singaporeans to fulfill their dreams and improve with the nation. I hope for the nation to be a good role model for the rest of the world, to be in the Top 10 lists of all the good stuff."
