Jared Douglas talks to us about Lionel Richie,
dating older women and his take on Britney Spears.

 Jared
Douglas is a shy guy, quiet and almost demure. Armed with the romantic
single Paradise, the 25-year old singer released his debut album
of the same title last year.
 His
music label Tantrum, was formed by 2 other friends Daython and Roy,
just to house his voice and he told us," All their hopes are rising
on my success, that's a bit scary!"
We saw through Jared's angelic exterior and
knew that deep down, there is an imp in him dying to get out. So
we brought him to Smoothie
Café where he slurped up his Very Berry Good smoothie with gusto.
 We
also gave him a drawing pad and marker and coaxed some pictorial
inner thoughts out of the pensive boy.
You've come a long way from Seattle to make
music, any broken dreams so far?
"I'm not from an entertainment family. In fact,
I'm the only one from the family who's left Washington indefinitely.
They think I'm crazy

but I'm happy at the core. I know this sounds
picture perfect, but I really have a close family. I get homesick
all the time but I'll be back for a family reunion end of this year
so it's not so bad."

the house and trees all around the place. The 2 on the right are my
brothers, Jonathon (17) and Joash (14).
What was singing with Lionel
Richie on his album Renaissance like?
 "I
could go on for hours talking about Lionel. He respected me as a
singer and you know how choosy Hollywood folks are with their compliments.
Sometimes you get the feeling you're not going to make it unless
you're a jerk and Lionel proved this wrong. He was a great inspiration."

His picture: Lionel's got this curly hair
all around and a big cheerful smile that I've got drawn here.
And there's that big heart of his by the side, and he's filled with
music all the time, that's what that music note stands for.
