and gang step up for the mike

Sharing their hearts and songs with you
are Zoe, Chor Meng, Christopher and Shaoguang who will be performing
in the "Together We Share Charity Nite" concert held on August 11
for the benefit of the Home Nursing Foundation.

  Together
with 6 talented Indonesian artistes (Qiu Jing, Lee Xiao
Qing, Peng Na Ni, Zhang Wei, Yip Mei Jing and Huang Yu Bing), Mediacorp
artistes Zoe, Shaoguang, Chor Meng and Christopher will be participating
in a concert held on August 11, 2 days after their performing for
the upcoming National Day Parade
  Jointly
organised by Biz Trends Media (Singapore) and Sky Music
Enterprise, the concert is for the benefit of raising funds for
the Home Nursing Foundation to help some 7000 poor, sick and the
elderly.
The Chinese saying that helping others is the
root of happiness is reflected on the faces of the stars.
Happy and jovial, Zoe, Christopher and Chor
Meng were peppered the atmosphere at yesterday's press conference
with lots of banter and friendly jibes.
  Christopher
sings his way to perfection
Working with these experienced Indonesian singers (one of them,
Peng Na Ni was touted as the Su Rei of Indonesia), the MediaCorp
artistes do feel pressured to perform.
"Of
course since we are actors and not singers by profession, even
if we do not sing as well as they do, it is quite okay lah. But
we should at least be of decent standard to hold our fort right?"
joked Christopher who will be singing Close Distance and wrapping
popiah for the event.
Eager to give a good performance, the star has
been practicing hard by listening to the song and trying to practice
his singing in his car and in his shower whenever he can. "I know
I will go off key and I still have a long way to go from perfection,"
offered Christopher humbly.
 Zoe
begs Indonesian artistes not to sing too well
Ah Jie Zoe, who will be performing in an singing item is unfazed
though. "Even though we cannot sing as well as you guys do, we are
still going to do so… all in the name of charity. Please forgive
us if we don't sing well," she smiled.
Bantering with the 3 Indonesian artistes who
were also present at the press conference, Zoe said, "Please try
not to sing too well so that we don't look too bad will you?"
  (Pointing
to Chor Meng) "Actually this is our Singing King in Singapore.
You don't have to give him face. If your item is before his, sing
as well as you can," said Ah Jie who burst into laughter uncontrollably.
Used to Zoe's cheeky antics, Chor Meng just
laughed along. Christopher however had something to add and wanted
to snatch Zoe's microphone away.
"Wait,
I am not done yet," said Ah Jie who gleefully snatched the
microphone back. Putting on her sweetest smile, she beseeched the
Indonesian singers, "Just pretend to have a sore throat if your
item is before mine, okay," before bursting into giggles again.
 Chor
Meng turns tarek man
Not only would Chor Meng be singing, he would also be whipping
up one of his specialties, Teh Tarik.
"Have you ever tried doing that before?" we
asked him. Putting on a straight face, Chor Meng said, "Of course,
I sell the teh tariks for a living you know."
 So
what have his friends said about his teh tarik? Is it of
acceptable
standard?
"Honestly, I don't know because most of it ended
up on the floor,"
he said with a smile.
"But perhaps this is the thing that will encourage
people to donate more money. After all, it's the sincerity that
counts," he quipped.
And Chor Meng is right. With lots of heart and
sincerity put into this concert, it will surely be a rousing one.
