Ryan
Giggs insulted or complimented?
July 24, 2001
He may not be the media darling and icon
of Manchester United like fellow mate David Beckham is, but still,
who dares insult the once mighty Giggsy?

Whoa
Shangri-La was so eerily quiet and deserted.
No screaming fans, and flying red banners. In
fact I only spotted 5 stray supporters lingering among the luscious
bushes.
Back in the conference ballroom, the situation
wasn't much better. Just very, very shush-shush.
 Until
the brave guy next to me asked, "The media are always concentrating
on the good-looking players. Do the good-looking players feel guilty
for taking attention away from the bad-looking players, who may
be better footballers?"
 And
then everyone rocketed into laughter, including the panel officials
and the Man U
convoy of Sir Alex Ferguson, Ryan
Giggs, Ronny
Johnsen and Phil
Neville.
I'm sure that finally
got Phil to stop picking his nose, biting his nails and squeezing
the mysterious zit on his thigh.
"Which
player do you want for that question?" an official asked.
"If you don't
mind, Ryan please," the reported replied oh-so-politely.
Thundering
balls of steel! Has Giggsy just been complimented for his looks
and snubbed for his football skills?
 Luckily
for us, no Sun Air drinking water was spilled, and Pepsi cans squashed.
Ryan was simply so stunned he just kept grinning.
Lovely lad
