A peek at last night's episode of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire: All-Star Celebrity Special.

The Bosporus Bridge links which two continents?

A. Asia and Europe
B. Africa and Europe
C. Asia and Australasia
D. The continents of $1,000 and $16,000

Vernetta squirmed visibly in her hot seat while The Flying Dutchman eyes her coolly. "You still have your lifelines," he cooed.

Vernetta chose 50:50.

Options B and D were left. The next lifeline was used on the audience poll. 68% voted for option B.

"I wish to call my friend Ah San," the indecisive contestant whispered.

The call was connected and the question relayed. Ah San wasted no time in replying "Ei, wah mm zai leh (I don't know), but I choose B lah."

"Ok, I go with my friend and the audience. I choose B," Vernetta gasped.

"Is that your final answer?" The FD asked.

"Yes."

"I'm afraid you've got it wrong, Vernetta. The correct answer is D."

Echoes of "Arrrghhh!" and other unmentionables reverberated through the recording studio and thousands of Singapore homes as shock and frustration registered on Vernetta Lopez's pretty face.

The 'Bosporus Bridge' collapses, sending the dejected actress back with a scanty $1000.

Ok my over-imaginative writer's instinct thought up the part about Ah San spewing dialect on national TV but the rest is true, I swear.

Hey, I was there in the studio squirming anxiously in the audience seat as Vernetta logged in her final answer.

So, how did the other celebrities fare?

In between filming, a rosy-cheeked Edmund Chen admitted that he was so nervous he wanted to quit.

The poor bloke wasn't the only one, judging by what Cynthia Koh told me, "Scary... very nervous…nerve-wracking experience… brain goes blank… will try my best."

Next on the hot seat is the reluctant contestant Li-lin. Reaching the first safety level of $1,000, she will return to the show on Wednesday for more thrilling excitements.

How much will she win for the charities?

Will the guys finally beat the girls in the Fastest Fingers First round? Will Xie Shaoguang remember how to work the computer?

Will Mark Lee really win, I quote, "more than a million dollars?"

Stay tuned to Channel 5 this Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, 8-9pm for the concluding episodes of the All-Star Celebrity Special.
