As Banshang Tailang
Nanxing plays a patriotic 28-year-old, one who believes all along that he is Japanese, only to discover, to his horror, that he has Chinese blood in him. Banshang Yilang's father, Wu Shirong (played by Chen Shucheng), married a Japanese woman in his younger days and his family rejected her. Left with no choice, Shirong sent both mother and son back to Japan and later lost contacts with them. Yilang becomes a general later and is saddened and shocked at news of his real heritage. He acknowledges his father but this causes him to fall into a dilemma regarding his loyalty. His enemies in the army take advantage of this knowledge and create trouble for him. When Nanxing told us about his character, he talked faster and faster and eventually just recited from memory with his eyes closed. Looks like all the artistes have digested their script way before filming starts. Although he appears in only 1 episode, his role is one which gives him free rein. He says, "The truth of Yilang's heritage comes as a shock to him; he finds it hard to accept the fact. Same thing for the father, because Yilang suddenly comes to him and tells him that he is his son. Moreover, the culture of father and son is different. I'll have some emotional scenes."
