Christopher Lee wants to cut your hair!

Christopher Lee plays a lawyer turned hairdresser in the up and coming new serial, Xing Suo. He shares with Eastciti his thoughts on learning the trades of hair dressing, his role in Xing Suo, Japan and of course, his rumoured love affairs.

<Eastciti.com, September 6> So, Decked out in a casual suit of T-shirt and jeans, Christopher looked fresh and chirpy when we asked to interview him in the artiste's lounge. "There is no air-con inside, I hope you don't mind," we asked. "Sure, no problem, don't worry, lah," said the amiable star.

Christopher Wants To Cut Your Hair!
"In the serial, I play a lawyer turned hairdresser," he said with a smile, explaining that he was initially a lawyer. "My father is a lawyer, too, but because I do not like the way he handles things (he helped thugs win cases), I decide to become a hairdresser instead. Then I get to know Fann's character and after understanding one another, we get together and try to change our faults, so I return to law again."

Since both lead actors and actresses are good friends of hairdressing gurus, it is natural that Passion salon (helmed by celebrity hair stylist David Gan) would willingly sponsor both stars. "I will be going to the salon to learn how to cut hair," says Christopher.

"But who will be volunteering to be your 'model'?" we asked him. "Anyone, you can if you want to." Turning to our videocam, he added, "Friends on the Net, you can be my model, too. If you are interested, just write in," he says with a laugh. Unfortunately, Christopher was unable to give us a proper address. Nevertheless, you could try writing in to the Chinese Drama department of MediaCorp Studios if you really want to try.

Working With Fann Again
"Working with Fann this time round is quite different," he told us. "In the past, the serials we starred in were either very dramatic or period pieces. But Xing Suo is more relaxed and more modern, that is why I think it will different."

But because filming has yet to start, he said it was difficult to tell what kind of sparks will fly between them. "But when filming does start and if I do get a chance, I'll keep you informed."

The Third Party
According to the actor, this serial is all about third parties. "You have to open your mind when you watch this serial," he advised. "In fact, I have 3 girlfriends in the show!" he said before breaking out into a loud guffaw.

"Before meeting Fann, I had a girlfriend and a lover," he added. Even though Christopher divulged that they did talk to Ivy Lee about playing her first girlfriend, we found out later that the role will be fleshed out by Star Awards Best Actress 1999, Cynthia Koh. Jazreel Low will play his lover.

Please Let Me Off!
When questioned about his current relationship status, he quipped, "I am not seeing anyone now. Many people asked me that question already." Little wonder, since he was reported to be the most frequent visitor of his leading lady's new house. "Please let me off, I am really not seeing anyone!" he protested with a smile.

Dream Come True
For Christopher, filming Xing Suo in Japan is a dream come true. "I have always wanted to go there. I would like to take a look at the people there, the culture and the cities."

"I will definitely go shopping since everyone knows that Japan has lots of really nice clothes," he said, but he will not be bringing loads of money to spend. "Everyone knows that the things there are really too expensive," he explained. "I will not buy it unless I really really like it or need it."

Like Fann, Christopher also likes the hot springs of Japan and on top of that, he likes watching Japanese drama serial, too (looks like he will get along really well with fellow avid Japanese drama fan, Cynthia Koh).

"My favourite is Beach Boys," he said. "I like Sorimachi's character. He is so free and easy and looks as if he has not a care in the world. I think I would like that kind of lifestyle, I mean he is such a bum …At least he has very little pressures in life and his lifestyle is really relaxed." The nature-lover is probably envious of Sorimachi's character also because he loves nature and water sports.

"But of course, at present, this is impossible for me," he says with a hint of resignation. "People should have dreams and goals and should work towards it. That is why one cannot be too much of a bum."
