Xiang Yun Plays Ping Hui's Mother, Mrs Baker

Barely back for a month after the birth of her second child, Xiang Yun is all smiles when interviewed. While she thought she would not get the role initially because the other 2 actresses who also auditioned were much better and more stately, Xiang Yun says she is very excited and happy at being chosen. "I will work very hard to fake that stately feel," she laughs when I tell her that I found her to be really very gentle and motherly.

So how does it feel to play the petite mother of Ping Hui? " Well, I don't really feel anything since I have played mother roles to many tall actors and actresses already but I hope Ping Hui would be filial to me," she says with a short laugh. Working for the second time with Ping Hui and Andi, Xiang Yun says she feels that the chemistry is already there. "I am sure it will be very fun since we have a bunch of very experience directors, producers and actors working together," she adds with a smile.

Andi Lim Plays Ralph Austin

For Andi, who plays the unkempt director, Ralph Austin, it would very much be like playing himself. "I really feel uncomfortable in these clothes," says the actor, who was clad in a sleeveless knit top, a pair of dark grey pants and a pair of sneakers. Looking reasonably beefed up after a board surfing holiday in Bintan, Andi claims that he would rather wear his T-shirt and wake shorts.

While he thought he had a 50-50 chance during the audition, he was more than happy with the result. "I am of course very very happy and very very excited. Star Search not included, this would be my first performance on a stage," he says with a smile. And he should be for the other sporty fellow actors who auditioned for his role gave him their blessings by cheering for him when he was told that he was chosen.

"I've not worked with Ping Hui before but I already worked with Xiang Yun Jie for The Wok of Life. As for Perry, I am really quite surprised that she spoke Mandarin so well," he grins.
